Nesting in Nantucket
With primary living spaces on the second floor, this near-the- beach house ensures views, sunlight and smiles.

Tucked under the eaves, the master bedroom features a vintage wood trunk that came with the house. A seagrass rug serves as a textural anchor for the seating area, which is rounded out with a vintage rocker The couple loved the kitchen’s ocean view and the fact that no remodeling was needed—only a few appliance updates. Colors and accessories keep the coastal theme present. A copper folk art whale, which the couple playfully refers to as Horatio Hornblower, keeps watch over the living room. A glass-tiles mirror picks up the colors found in the surrounding elements . Frosted glass in oceanic colors evoke the coastal setting. Dining area blues repeat from the still life painting. A painting by local artist David Lazarus inspired the blues and greens used throughout the house. In the cozy living room, a wood burning fireplace provides warmth on chilly days.

Island Gem
An array of whimsical furnishings, dazzling hues and lively patterns make up the prefect Florida beach retreat.

From the posts to the wood top and trim salvaged elements were united to create the unique island. A modern chest of drawers is transformed into a antique with a multi-layers of paint, paisley swirls, and sunburst motifs. Four screen doors and a carved wooden beam were the starting point for the master bath. Soft hues get a boost from a colorful duvet. Walls made of glass panels, called Nana Walls, fold accordion style (here they are fully open) for indoor-outdoor living. The colors are all inspired by Florida's flora and fauna. Sea glass and tiny shells glued to the rim of a shade keeps the coastal theme present. The surrounding nature is the inspiration for the decor. Cream-colored ceramic tiles edge a patchwork of hand painted Mexican tiles. A surf shack motif offers a lighthearted blueprint for fun and affordable ideas. Folding chairs are upholstered in a myriad of tribal patterns. Faux painting transformed plain cabinetry into one-of-a-kind kitchen. The master bedroom features vintage shutters converted into a sliding door using classic barn hardware. Glass tile commissioned from a local artist creates a sparkling mural in the main bathroom.

Colourful Tide
Lollipop hues give this tiny seaside retreat the appeal of a found treasure chest.

The interiors boast a kaleidoscope of patterns and color shifts. Light-toned ceilings soften the brilliant shades and visually raise the height. In a small home, everything must feed a need but that doesn’t mean they can’t also be pretty, like these colorful enamel dishes or brightly color glassware. A shell covered chandelier pays tribute to the coastal location. A antique bench functions as a coffee table. Multicolor glass candle jars stay in tune with the overall color scheme. On the door to the den bold aqua and bright yellow accents contrast with the lobster-hued wall and the mustard color of the floor. Groupings in the same color families keep the vibrant palette in focus.

A tiny getaway near the sea brightens up and lives large for a couple who delight in sharing their 'sweet little sweep-out' with family and friends.

Hooks and pegs add simple charm all around the house, but they’re also practical, Homeowner Rob and Gayle Macchi. A fish ornament alludes to the waterside location.
