Synopsis
Set like a jewel in the Gulf of Mexico, Florida's Anna Marie Island is a short drive from Tampa or Orlando. Arriving on this tropical seven-mile strip of land, feels like you've arrived in paradise, according to those who know about this well-kept secret. Kandice Ridley spent a good part of her childhood living an hour from the island. She spent weekends and vacations there with her family. Although she married a Texan and moved to Dallas, she and her husband David continued to visit there frequently.
'I had dreamed of a big beach house for many years. I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like.' Kandice explained. 'It had to incorporate architectural elements from Hawaii, the California coast and classic Florida beach houses.'
For the interior, her true inspiration was nature. All of the colours are drawn from ocean sea glass, the skies at different times of day, rainbows, foliage, and the amazing plumage of island birds. Kandice spent months searching for architectural salvage, art that spoke to her, and unique fabrics. Today, three generations share the well-kept secret that is Anna Marie Island. It's their own little piece of paradise.
