Call of the Wild
Built in the footprint of a classic Western lodge, a California hideaway gets style and substance from wood, stone, and metal details.

Pomegranates and rosemary have fitting rustic feel. Obtained “as is” in the south of France, tapestry armchairs have a well-worn charm. Leather club chairs are the perfect perch for basking by the fire. Old redwood beams crown the simply yet visually powerful living room. Louvered doors open into a guest bedroom. The fireplace mantel was salvaged from a French country house. Deep-hued hydrangeas rucked into crock soften the rugged table. A 19th century French oil painting hangs over an equally old sideboard. Every element of the house has an interesting story. 19th century paintings add rich color to the eating area. A massive oil jug alludes to the near by olive groves. Natural materials create an organic vignette. An olive oil jug and wooden candlesticks conjure up the Spanish Misssion look.
