Mediterranean Rendition
Textural finishes, vibrant colours and distinctive fabrics bring the spirit of Provence to a Florida home.

Chunky factory thread spools used as knobs distinguish a refinished chest of drawers. Treasures displayed in a wire-front cabinet include vintage sunflower cups and saucers, mustard jars, Italian and French jugs and pots infuse the kitchen with Mediterranean vibe. A tangle of grapevine clippings gathered in a braided basket create an organic centerpiece. La Dolce Vita
A chef falls for the rustic elegance and old-world heart of a historic Florida home and fills it with the welcoming comfort of his native Italy.

Adding to the kitchen’s rusticity, a hood encased in tiles and bricks tops the professional-grade stove and adds noteworthy character. Golden walls and an arched opening elegantly frame the entrance to the living room. Handcrafted Italian pitchers and plates share the limelight with ruby red glasses. A bouquet of sunflowers brings home the sun-drenched Italian countryside. Flanked by jeweled-color votives, a one-of-a kind antique Italian brass clock presides over the carved stone mantel. A pair of gilded chairs upholstered in luxurious vintage silk and honey-toned drapes foster a sense of opulence. A painting of coral hibiscus in a gilded frame reflects the local flora while echoing the room's dramatic color. With its warm tones, plaster walls, stones, bricks and tiles, the kitchen is a study in Tuscan style. Silky fabrics in coordinating colors unite pillows of disparate shapes and patterns. From cookbooks to homemade treats, chef Maurizio is devoted to authenticity.

New England Spirit
Nancy and Rick Chace took a few years to get to know the Victorian era they bought in the historic district of Bristol, Rhode Island 'just a stone's throw from the harbour'.

In the kitchen, an alcove offers just enough space for casual family meals. Chalk paint unifies and refreshes the dining table and 1960s chairs. Colorful and versatile furnishings make the living room comfortable. The new staircase post was carved with an Eastlake flower. The renovated bathroom features all modern conveniences. A Gothic mirror and fireplace surround. A collection of blue bowls, pitchers and jars. A blue 1940s vase and silverware are family heirlooms. Colorful accessories make meals feel like a picnic. White shaker cabinets and granite countertops keep the kitchen look simple. Glass floats and a starfish honor the coastal location. he master bedroom continues the theme of mixing old and new and the color palette. A new mudroom at the back of the house serves as a family entrance.
