Reconfiguring the original space, Sharon and Richard Simmonds have created a relaxing, spacious, bathroom.

Installing a new family bathroom into their 1930s house was part of a much bigger project for Sharon Simmonds and her husband Richard. ‘We bought the property in 2011, the interior hadn’t been updated since it was built, and so with the help of an architect and a great team of builders we started the year long renovation,’ says Sharon. The couple had a clear idea for the interior design throughout their home. Having previously lived in New Zealand for a period of time, they were influenced by the spacious light filled homes they had experienced there. ‘ We wanted to keep the colour palette pale and encourage as much light into each room as possible, explains Sharon. The original bathroom had a separate WC, so to maximise the space they decided to knock down the partitioning wall and reposition the door, creating a larger combined bath and shower room. New style windows were installed throughout the house for a contemporary look and to increase the quality daylight into each room. Sharon says, ‘
