Synopsis
To create living quarters for guests above a former horse stable, Teresa Palmer conceived the 600-square-foot loft with an open floor with high ceilings and plenty of windows. She chose recycled lumber for the floors and opted for old-fashioned horizontal shiplap paneling instead of drywall. A pale palette is gentle to the eye and makes it easier to relax. Because the barn was originally a working stable, incorporating a few equestrian touches and unfussy country furniture made sense.
