Synopsis
Lisa was keen to find a period house with character and original features. She and Corry investigated several options before she spotted a bay-fronted,1930’s semi with a large garden on a quiet road in leafy Hale. Set over three floors, the house had five bedrooms and a classic layout with a spacious hall, and two separate reception rooms. A conservatory at the back served as a dining room adjoining the small kitchen. There were plenty of period touches, in the shape of deep skirtings, panelled timber doors, high ceilings and an elegant staircase, but décorwise the house was dated and dull, “There were ugly spotlights on the ceilings, pink carpets and old-fashioned fireplaces with brass fittings,” recalls Lisa, “Even so, it had a lot of charm and I loved the idea of a project.”
