Synopsis
Karen Rogers a landscape garden designer and her husband bought the property in 1997, and in 2002 they got planning permission to extend the original cob and thatched cottage but had to keep the original features including low oak beams and inglenook fireplace. The property was lovingly restored and modernized and the result is a successful architectural blend of old and new with spacious communal areas in the extended part linked to cosy traditional rooms in the original part of the cottage. In 2012, the cottage was further enhanced with the help of a local Interior Design Company (Willow, Lymington) to upgrade the decor, furniture and furnishings. Situated on a quiet country road in East Boldre in the New Forest, an Area of Outstanding National Beauty, the cottage sits in its own landscaped gardens designed by Karen and has a private roof terrace that looks out with distant views across the open forest. The cottage is used as a second family home and is also available for holiday rentals.
