Synopsis
After their first child was born, Lorna Goode and David Grohol decided to trade in their San Francisco digs for a less hectic life in the country. Their search led to this fixer-upper, a 1912 white cottage nestled into 5 acres in Sonoma. As in, really nestled in. Overgrown landscaping and falling-down outbuildings were part of the bargain' part they didn't bargain for. 'We were complete city slickers,' says Lorna, a fashion designer. 'We had no idea what it meant to own a big property. So we bought the it thinking we'd buy a fixer upper and redo it in our own style. Now in the third of four planned remodeling phases, the cottage embodies what the couple envisioned 12 years ago for their active family, whichnow includes two children, two Rottweilers, and three horses.
