Synopsis
Built in the 1970s of post-and-beam construction, the home's modified A-frame rooftop design was meant to mimic a boat or ship that had capsized. The house was in such sad shape, though, that many nearby residents assumed a new owner would demolish it and build a new home on the lot. After touring the house, however, Tiffany and her husband George were convinced a major makeover was all it needed. After the essential repairs were completed, the couple stripped the beams on the upper floor to call more attention to the home's handsome architecture. Tiffany painted the wood ceilings and paneled walls a soft white, which proved to be an ideal backdrop for her eclectic and colorful mix of midcentury modern furniture, global rugs, pillows, bed coverings, and nautical accents.Although the unobstructed ocean view and nearly private beach were the home's original draw, its cheerful decor also beckons the family to take time out of their busy schedules to relax at the shore.
