Synopsis
Jennifer Paganelli's past goes well beyond checkered to down- right kaleidoscopic. Her childhood was spent in the bucolic heartland, her adolescence in the vivid Virgin Islands, her college years in classic New England, and her career-building years in the vibrant cacophony of New York City. Now settled back in New England with her husband, Peter, in this Connecticut home and studio, the textile designer and author pulls from those diverse life phases to create a style patchwork that is on the one hand fresh and mod, and on the other nostalgic and charming. 'I spent a lot of my time in a tropical environment growing up, so the brights are comforting to me,' she explains. In both her rooms and her popular fabrics, there is also a connection to all things vintage. 'I try to keep a timeless quality to the pattern and freshen it with color,'she says. 'I design to share memories of things I handled as a child. I think that's what resonates with people. 'There really are no rules to decorating any more, do what makes you happy and resist the urge to play it safe.'
