Andy Martin

‘Never judge a book by its cover’ may seem like an old-fashioned idiom, but in the case of Andy and Madeleine Martin’s London home it’s perfectly apt.

Synopsis
Built in the 1920s and nicknamed ‘the ugly house’ by Andy, an award-winning architect, the property’s unassumingly suburban exterior belies the unexpectedly cool, open space he has created beyond the threshold – and which the couple share with their three children. Andy has even managed to squeeze a plunge pool and sauna into the typically small London garden. As a prominent architect with a multi-disciplinary practice, AMA (Andy Martin Architecture) Andy is used to transforming drab spaces into something special. He has created spectacular interiors for some of London’s most fashionable restaurants including 90s hotspots Coast and Isola, and more recently, the three Barrafinas and Fucina, with its dramatic undulating brick ceiling. He has also designed homes for Hotelier, Olga Polizzi and rock legend, Noel Gallagher.
