Synopsis
'When we first saw the property it looked very tired and in need of some updating. The pebbledash render, old brown windows and flat roofs had to go. There were three bedrooms and three small extensions that had been added over the years, which created a variety of small badly shaped rooms,' says Amanda.  They consulted an architect, going on to demolish the entire back and side of the house to ground level, including the old garage and started again with a new configuration of the ground floor and first floor. Creating an open plan living space with a utility and ground floor bedroom, upstairs an en suite and a fifth bedroom have been added. Initially living in the property the family moved into their motor home in the driveway once the serious work started. Taking eighteen months to complete, they gradually started to inhabit the house as each room was completed, living around the building work as it progressed. Once the house was completed the couple consulted an interior designer to help them with the decoration and design of the interior. 'We are really pleased with all our hard work and love the open plan living space, where we now spend all our time,' says Amanda.
