Call of the Wild
Built in the footprint of a classic Western lodge, a California hideaway gets style and substance from wood, stone, and metal details.

Obtained “as is” in the south of France, tapestry armchairs have a well-worn charm. A massive oil jug alludes to the near by olive groves. Leather club chairs are the perfect perch for basking by the fire. Every element of the house has an interesting story. Pomegranates and rosemary have fitting rustic feel. An olive oil jug and wooden candlesticks conjure up the Spanish Misssion look. Louvered doors open into a guest bedroom. Mood lighting comes from early 20th century European sconces. Old redwood beams crown the simply yet visually powerful living room. Deep-hued hydrangeas rucked into crock soften the rugged table. 19th century paintings add rich color to the eating area. Demijohns and crockery are country classics. The fireplace mantel was salvaged from a French country house.
