Synopsis
The picturesque riverside setting of a classic Georgian townhouse in the New Forest would seem to be an idyllic spot to start a new life in the country. But Nicola Morris and Ian Wilkinson were not convinced it was ‘the really special place’ they had spent two years tracking down. Having swapped the city for a safe rural environment in which to bring up their son, Elliot, they were searching for something as individual as the London house they had left behind. ‘Despite its amazing view, the house didn’t impress us’ Nicola admits. ‘It was only once we got inside, after some considerable persuasion by the estate agent, that we saw how much it had to offer.’ From the arched entrance with its original Purbeck stone flooring through a spacious hall to the interlinking reception rooms and the ‘incredibly beautiful’ walled garden beyond, the period property boasted a lot more than just a spectacular outlook.
