Synopsis
The couple learned that while they loved their home's historic roots, they wanted brighter interiors and an updated floor plan to work for a family with two young daughters. Armed with plenty of advice from architects the couple ultimately gutted a warren of small rooms at the back of the house to create a roomier kitchen open to a banquette, a mudroom with a back door, and a spacious family bathroom with a washer and dryer. Other walls came down to open a staircase to the dining room. Nancy gravitates toward calming watery hues and to Americana, painted furniture, and vintage signs' especially ones that tell a story.
