Synopsis
With the help of an interior designer, Hannah McCarthy and Toby McMillan transformed the sitting room of their Victorian terrace in southeast London.
‘When we moved in, the room was looking a bit tired, with very washed-out green paint combining with the brown floral Victorian fireplace surround to create a drab, depressing 1970s kind of vibe’. Changing everything from the dated décor to the furniture and fittings, the couple turned the room from a depressing space they once avoided using, to one they now love spending time in.
‘Our toddler Isaac particularly loves it,’ says Hannah. ‘Since he started walking he’s become fascinated by the furniture, so we’re drawn into this area at all times of the day.’
