Fully Functional
Long Island, New York, residents Michael and Carole Sino love spending weekends in Chatham, a picturesque seaside Cape Cod town.

Glass backsplash tiles, a new vanity, a round mirror––that recalls a porthole, make thermal bathroom pretty and comfortable. Above the fireplace, a framed map of the Cape and a whimsical sculpture pay tribute to the location. An antique Oriental rug helps delineate the living space and adds a pop of rich color to the soft palette. A deep plate rail and hooks add architecture, plus display space for basket storage and favorite finds. Drawers and cubbies keep linens, board games and books organized and easy to grab. A vignette of driftwood, beach tone and glass float underscore the mariner theme. On the side of the bed, baskets help keeping the small Lobster trap doors function as a headboard, while space saving floating shelves takes place of nightstands. Installing shelves across the window increased the kitchenette’s storage without blocking the view. Opposite the fireplace, the partial wall separates the sleeping area from the living room, and provides privacy while maintaining the airy vibe. In the sleeping space the Sinos gained storage without sacrificing inches with a platform bed fitted with cubbies. A long narrow console fills a niche to the right of the fireplace and below the window. White cabinets and counters complement the classic cottage style and help make the little home feel more spacious.

Color and texture are key to Tiffany's decorating style. Exposed beams, horizontal siding and rows of wall shelves insure a unified look. Modern Country Chic
When Lauren Palmer decided to move back to the family farm, her parents and siblings pitched in to transform a dated ranch-style house into a modern country farmhouse.

Vintage 1950s wire mesh armchairs are made cozier with sheepskin. Opening onto the living room area, the dining room shares a similar palette . Galvanized barn pendants hang above a farmhouse table White walls establish a neutral backdrop for unfussy country furniture and artwork. The concrete sink tempers the bathroom's romantic nature. Symmetrical accents and a salvaged armoire keep the room tidy. The copper tub is the focal point of the bathroom. A French chaise longue continues the bathroom’s nod to 19th century glamour. Fresh mint and peonies are country staples. A scalloped edging on the built-in cupboard tips the scales toward nostalgic. Gray cabinetry and stainless steel appliances encapsulate the home’s dual aesthetics. Textural items create and organic vignette. A vintage cabinet offers stylish storage.
