Yoko

As a former Corporate Investor, business travel was a large part of Yoko Kloeden’s life, with long periods of time spent in serviced apartments around the world, but whether in Toronto, Moscow or Singapore they often looked the same.

Synopsis
They were these generic, boring, beige apartments with no personality or sense of place,’ says Yoko, who is originally from Japan. ‘I’d always loved design but it got me thinking about how space affects the way we feel and I decided it was something I wanted to explore.’ After moving to London with her husband Yoko retrained in interior design. She has completed numerous projects including her own home in Twickenham where she has mixed Japanese serenity with the demands of three young children. The cool colour palettes were chosen to keep the mood (and the children) calm while robust and repairable material was chosen to withstand busy family life.
