Synopsis
‘The house was in need of updating an in some areas reconfiguring, it was two weeks before Christmas and it was very cold when we moved in. Recalls Laura. We decided to replace the windows as the original frames were in a poor state, unfortunately with extremely low temperatures outside, and by now with a young baby, it proved to be a challenging task. The draft through the house was terrible. I remember trying to paint the doors outside and repeatedly rubbing down and repainting, because the paint was freezing before drying.’ The existing period features of flag stone floors and oak beams gave Laura the base for her interior design ideas. Her mix of vintage and contemporary furniture sit comfortably together. Adding some of her favourite fabrics and soft woollen throws, has given the cottage her trademark, cosy and inviting feel.
