Synopsis
It was love at first sight when Tina and Richard Btesh found their dream home almost two decades ago. It was a stylish Victorian villa in an elevated position with a unique veranda and wonderful views . They had put in an offer it when Tina was pregnant, but the sale fell through. Then three years ago it came onto the market again. The couple had no intention of moving but they couldn’t resist taking another look. Though Tina was initially daunted by the amount of work it needed, Richard’s heart ruled his head. He persuaded her that they should buy it and she agreed - provided all the work could be done before they moved in. The property had last been decorated in the 90s, with very bright colours. But Tina had other ideas. “I wanted a paler palette of muted greys and pastels.” And her vision was to create a home for themselves and daughter Freddie, 17, that had “a gentle English country feel with occasional French and Gustavian influences thrown in”.
