Synopsis
Sarah Dinwiddy has come to believe that, like a woman of a certain age, a house seems to know what suits it best. Her West Sussex town house was built in the Napoleonic era and she had impressive plans, including a bright feature wall in one room. However: “I tried it and the house just didn’t seem to like it; the colours were wrong and things I thought would work just looked awkward,” she says. Today the property is at ease with itself, a stylish blend of vintage, antique and bargain finds, where rooms flow seamlessly, linked by Sarah’s ability to curate beautiful objects, her love of fresh flowers, and her abiding affection for the colour grey.
