Synopsis
After many years living and working in abroad, Sarah decided it was time to return
home to England. The first of her four growing up children, had embarked on the
university journey, it was time to feather her nest closer to home. For much of the
year they now study or work away, but all come back to roost at Christmastime,
enjoying the trappings of a traditional Christmas sprinkled with childhood memories.
The Vicarage has undergone a dramatic transformation since Sarah purchased
it back in 2001. “It was in a sad state when we bought it, every room had to have
something done to it, upstairs and downstairs, so I set about as reasonably as I
could. It was a far more daunting task than I was expecting,” she explains. The
house needed roof repairs, electrical rewiring and new boiler and heating system
before Sarah could even contemplate the interior décor. On a limited budget, she
undertook much of the interior work, and, after months of hard work and creativity,
Sarah has created an opulent but relaxed home, spilling with artefacts and curiosities gathered over the years.
