Synopsis
‘The kitchen was dire. It was just a stripped out shell, a concrete floor, no ceiling and a temporary sink attached to the wall where I had to stand on a chair to wash up,’ recalls Lorraine.

When they started looking for a kitchen designer they realized that Steve Moon’s Tunbridge Wells showroom was just around the corner from their house and Steve was quickly on the scene to offer advice and ideas. His company undertakes building work as well as fitting kitchens, and his first suggestion was to replace a window with glazed French doors. Although this meant losing some wall space for units the couple really felt that lightening the whole room was more important. With space now at a premium the configuration had to be a simple L-shape against two walls with each run of units fitted around Lorraine’s two principle requirements – a large sink and an Everhot cooker.
