“Buying this property was a huge risk, but we’d fallen in love with it. We’d often noticed it from our home across the river, and when it came on the market we just had to follow our hearts. It was complicated, because there was a cottage and a separate stable-block on the site, and although we were only interested in the stables, we had to purchase both together. The cottage had been converted from an old slaughterhouse in the 1960’s, but the Victorian stable-block, which included a hayloft and two cartsheds, was unconverted."
