Synopsis
In 2002 when Canadian born antiques dealer/stylist Kim Davies and her husband Dan, a building contractor, acquired a run-down early 19th-century house in Ontario they certainly hadn’t envisaged the marathon undertaking it would take to modernise the house. Built in 1857 as a feed and grain store, the building had been converted into a house in 1924, since then it had remained in the hands of the same owners who had done nothing whatsoever to bring it in tune with the twentieth-century. “It was in a pretty bad state both externally and internally,” recalls Kim, “but the bones of the building hadn’t been tampered with and that’s what appealed to us most.”
