Karen and Peter Moore

Having fallen in love with the area, and tired of B and Bs and small hotels, the Moore family looked for a property to buy in much sought after Burnham Market.

Synopsis
The only available property in price range was a bungalow, so they completely revamped and extended it to make a wonderful New England Style coastal retreat. Down came many of the internal walls, floor to ceiling sliding doors/windows were installed throughout to create a light-filled, open-plan living space which gives on to wooden decking and a pebble garden to the rear. Inside walls were painted white to increase the sense of space and cosied up with a log burner, candles and lots of cushions and throws. The home is decorated with many locally sourced items form art work to soft furnishings, enhancing the costal authenticity of the home. Karen loves vintage and has furnished the bedrooms with vintage linens, cushions and furniture. At Christmas time family and friends descend to enjoy Karen and Peters hospitality and the 3 bedroomed property is filled with people,( sofa beds accommodate additional guests) Karen cleverly decorates for xmas with a simple red and white theme which works throughout the house. Ingeniously, to maximise space, she installs a ‘corner tree’( effectively backless so fits snugly into a corner) together with a driftwood wall tree, but she can’t resist having a real tree too, there’s just something special about its fragrance.
