Synopsis
This amazing Regency town house in Cheltenham is the new home of Ian and Christa Taylor and although it is Grade 2 * listed nevertheless the couple had permission to remove a wall between kitchen and dining room and to extend the kitchen exterior wall out by two metres to make it altogether bigger and lighter. They were also allowed to add a first floor terrace, repave the carport and rebuild the carport wall which had trees growing out of it when they first came to see it. "The house had not been occupied for five years but had been used as a store and showroom for an antique dealer," says Ian who used to own and run a hotel in Chipping Campden. "In fact the basement was uninhabitable but we have made it into extra guest accommodation." Now no expense has been spared in furnishing and decorating all five floors of this Regency terraced house. The Italian kitchen has been supplied and installed by Abitalia with high gloss grey units and marble worktops and back splashes; the chandeliers are from Murano, the lighting by Sharon Mastin and Bocci, Regency marble fireplaces brought from Dublin have been put in to replace those missing and other names to conjure with are Shanghai Tang (silk bedspread resembling a patchwork), Victoria & Albert and Bette (baths) and Josephine Homes (linens and cashmere fabrics).
