Synopsis
Helena and her husband Per live on a small island near Stockholm, called Resaro, with their three children Louisa 16, Anton 14 and Edwin, 11. The houses on the island, of which theirs is one, were mainly built around 1890 as holiday villas for middle class merchants and their families. When Helena and Per first found the house it had been given a superficially ‘modernised’ look, and the character of the house had all but been lost, but they loved the position near the sea, with views across to the archipelago. Helena drew up plans for a wooden verandah to be added, with steps that lead up from the garden, and researched the colours of the exterior to bring it back to its original appearance. Inside the house needed a sensitive approach to give it a traditional look that contains all the needs of their growing family.
