Synopsis
No Feature Sales in the UK & No Individual Image Sales in the UK

Helen Bailey updated and extended her Georgian property where she lives with her daughter. An estate agent showed her around an elegant, spacious property which had rental potential in the form of a garden flat, so Helen snapped it up. ‘But it was very dated internally and not my style,’ she remembers. ‘There were “flying saucer” uplighters on the walls, some rooms were painted dark red and the floorboards were orange pine. It was all very 1980s and had been modernised rather badly.’ Initially Helen painted walls in a palette of whites, sanded and painted the floors and added plain carpets to the bedrooms and sitting room. Much of the furniture is the result of trips to local auctions or antiques fairs. ‘I was into upcycling furniture long before it was popular. I even painted the piano,’ she admits.
