Synopsis
The owners, Louise and Bruce Stewart have extended into the enveloping garden area to create a beautiful more contemporary kitchen and dining space with which 'lets the countryside in'. It'ss refreshing to find a touch of colour, the Stewart's have added blue highlights to the kitchen diner and rich plum in the sitting room. The roaring log fire set in the slate tiled wall, brings warmth and cosiness to the kitchen/dining area, whilst a more traditional fire burns in the original house fireplace in the sitting room. Christmas decor revolves around foraged or garden finds; fir trimmings, ivy and pine cones are woven into garlands and wreaths, or added to enhance faux trimmings. The table is dressed with faded garden flowers; dried papery roses, hydrangeas set in vintage bottles and jars together with shimmering candles. This simple setting can be easily achieved, you don't need to be a florist, refreshed or changed according to the occasion.
