Synopsis
I am inspired first by colour and texture, then I considered the era the house was built in, the ‘30’s was a period of glamour and sensuous fabrics, film stars were always seen in luxurious draping silks, furs and sparkling jewels and this was echoed in the shapes and designs of other items in that period. Georgie has 2 favourite items in the house. ‘Without a doubt the stag’s head chandelier on the landing is one of the loveliest chandeliers I’ve ever seen. An original from the ‘30’s it has been beautifully restored, I am especially fond of the aged patina on the metalwork.’ ‘I just love the stunning artwork by Kate Kelleher. Kate is a very talented artist who works with different materials to achieve a beautiful effect, this painting named Flora changes throughout the day depending on the direction of the light and was the inspiration for the colour palette in the hall and landing.
