Synopsis
‘There were pigeons in the loft, broken windows and an oil tank for heat,’ explains Georgia. ‘Then the hot water cylinder burst – but we knew it was going to be an adventure and we had allocated a budget for the renovations, so we just got on with it.’ The couple, who run furniture brand The French Bedroom Company, wanted to live in the house to see how they used it before starting the work so they camped out in an upstairs room. Other than replacing the windows and removing a wall there was little structural work to be done and as Georgia was pregnant with the first of the their two children, Layla, 5 and Jacobi, 9-months, they had a tight deadline to keep to.
