Synopsis
NO Australia -A couple of years ago, Fleur Madden’s builder brother, Nick Madden of Groove Properties, spotted a great piece of land in the coveted café suburb of Bulimba. He thought immediately of Fleur and gave her a call. “It was a great price at a great time and I was ready for a change,” says Fleur. Though only 31, Fleur had built up one of Australia’s most successful PR companies, Red PR, from scratch and was living a busy, corporate lifestyle in the inner-city suburb of New Farm. “The first day I moved in to my Bulimba home, a lady from across the street knocked on my door and welcomed me to the suburb – it was quite different from my old suburb where it would have been more likely to be woken by a drunken brawl at 3-am.” Fleur and Nick worked closely with Tonic Architecture + Design on the design of the house. “The big thing for me is that it had to work for the dogs {French Bulldogs, Roy and Frank} – they’re my children – so I needed enough shaded areas and running room outside, and they needed to be able to access the laundry inside (their bedroom) themselves.”
