Synopsis
As a keen surfer, Charlie and his wife Kate, spent most of their holidays on the North Cornwall coast and stumbled across the site in St Eval, which is near Padstow, during a trip to the area. Having won the bid for the property at auction, the Luxton’s obtained planing permission to both renovate the existing barn - now called The Sheepfold - and build a sustainable annex in the grounds. The oak clad annex, named The Sheepshed, has warm-toned Douglas fir flooring complemented by a decor of muted blue shades with yellow accents which echo the wild Gorse that grows in abundance in Cornwall. The Sheepfold, although totally transformed, retains its original barn character with traditional features including aged oak flooring, metal rafters and vaulted ceilings. For a modern rustic feel, vintage furniture and retro pieces are teamed together. Some of the furniture and fixtures, including the kitchen cabinetry and round coat hooks, are bespoke and custom made by Charlie.
