When Cath and Andy Hartley bought their 1950's detached house in Cheltenham their motivation to move had been to downsize when their youngest of two sons, Richard (20), went off to university. 'When we first saw the house we loved it, but planned to extend the ground floor to make it a more social space to entertain visiting family and friends.' says Cath.
