Synopsis
Their home couldn't be less creative and eclectic itself. The family initially acquired only the first- or reception- floor, as the building was divided into 4 flats when they bought theirs, in 1987. The Victorian building, located in North London- Hackney borough, dates 1865. In the 15 years that followed the couple managed to buy also the other flats as soon as they got vacant and to reunite the house as a whole. But every floor kept its own uniqueness, as the owners' intention was to convert the house into a location for photo shootings, too. They intentionally enhanced the presence of different styles, spreading from 1600 to 1960, in order to maintain a wide commercial spectrum. Even though none of the two is interior designer, their passion for the subject has always been there- this home is like a dream come true. They searched for all the props in auctions and flea markets all over Europe, as they wanted every element to be truly unique. They also focused on walls- as the idea was to make them interesting too. Many wallpapers are vintage or covered with recovered paneling. Brian's painting studio is like a little nest in the attic, with a romantic view on the park. His art is shown on the website www.brianayling.com
