Synopsis
An American living with her four children in England, Butter goes all out to embrace the festive season, naturally. She loves ‘ all things green’ which is evident both inside and out; from the fairy light strewn box balls outside, the wonderfully wispy sumptuous foliage door wreath to the towering green beribboned tree inside. Her green fingers magic up massive foliage ’kissing’ balls which decorate the green bamboo wallpapered hallway. An eclectic mix of antique and vintage china, stone and metal ware, from across the world, are filled with festive flowers and seasonal scented forced hyacinths which perfume the rooms. Butter’s reputation for these enviable decorations have forced her to run Xmas wreath making workshops, which friends and clients attend, taking a little bit of Butters Christmas home to theirs.
The kitchen is the heart of the family home, its farmhouse style table, engulfed in plants and candles, is cleared to make way for Christmas lunch. Turkey, usually the American Thanksgiving reserve, is served up instead of her childhood dish of venison. The sitting room and the drawing room, with open hearted fires, beckon family and friends. Four needlepoint stockings, hand stitched by Butter, with each of her children’s names, hang expectantly from the fireplace.
The house is tastefully decorated throughout, but Butter is not afraid to be bold. The hallway makes a bold black white and green introduction, softer tones, pinks and more greens give warmth to the living areas. The bedrooms wear sleepier, neutrals, with an inevitable touch of green. Butters warm and welcoming home is a true reflection of her engaging personality, taste and talent is imbued throughout.
Butter lives in London with her four children Jack, Zoe, Eliza and Kit and their border terrier, Wafer.
