Fully Functional
Long Island, New York, residents Michael and Carole Sino love spending weekends in Chatham, a picturesque seaside Cape Cod town.

On the side of the bed, baskets help keeping the small White cabinets and counters complement the classic cottage style and help make the little home feel more spacious. Above the fireplace, a framed map of the Cape and a whimsical sculpture pay tribute to the location. The open space includes the living room, kitchen an eating area. An antique Oriental rug helps delineate the living space and adds a pop of rich color to the soft palette. A long narrow console fills a niche to the right of the fireplace and below the window. Lobster trap doors function as a headboard, while space saving floating shelves takes place of nightstands. Glass backsplash tiles, a new vanity, a round mirror––that recalls a porthole, make thermal bathroom pretty and comfortable. In the sleeping space the Sinos gained storage without sacrificing inches with a platform bed fitted with cubbies. A deep plate rail and hooks add architecture, plus display space for basket storage and favorite finds. The front door opens right into the living area and heralds the cottage blue color accents. At the foot of the bed, basket offer easily accessible storage. A vignette of driftwood, beach tone and glass float underscore the mariner theme.

Past Perfect
No detail was too small to bring a neglected 1924 Craftsman bungalow back to life as a celebration of the past and a promising future.

A country French antique dresser is retrofitted as a vanity. Accessories in coordinated colors and materials. Starfish and shells bring the coastal location in. A vintage bedspread won an iron bed . Aqua accents speak of waterside location. Pastel artwork tempers qua items. Starfruit garnish adds Florida flavor. A chandelier with drop crystals bring in some bling, Furniture legs give the center island the look of freestanding furniture. Old heart pine flooring runs throughout the house A pair of ottomans stand in as a coffee table. A vintage fireplace gets a modern makeover. Similar textures and colors work well together.

Beach Lodge

Assorted pillows and throws bring color and texture to the living room. A wealth of colorful, decorative details abounds in the guest bedroom. One of a pair of Indian mirrored bulls. An oversize mirror break up a solid expanse of wall. An antique plant stand sprouts easy-care succulents. Modern Country Chic
When Lauren Palmer decided to move back to the family farm, her parents and siblings pitched in to transform a dated ranch-style house into a modern country farmhouse.

A luxurious velvet upholstered bed is the bedroom’s centerpiece. White walls establish a neutral backdrop for unfussy country furniture and artwork. Symmetrical accents and a salvaged armoire keep the room tidy. Galvanized barn pendants hang above a farmhouse table The concrete sink tempers the bathroom's romantic nature. Twin sofas and a banquette are outfitted in pure washable Belgian linen. The copper tub is the focal point of the bathroom. Tree trunk tables can be rearranged to suit all occasions and needs. Just picked vegetable from the farm. Vintage 1950s wire mesh armchairs are made cozier with sheepskin. Weathered and worn pieces have a familiar feel. A scalloped edging on the built-in cupboard tips the scales toward nostalgic. Textural items create and organic vignette.
