Synopsis
When their daughter Maia was born, architectural designer and TV presenter Charlie Luxton and his wife Kate, who works with him in his architectural practice, decided to make the move out of London. They started looking for a property in Oxfordshire, and discovering that Kate’s great aunt was selling a cottage in Hook Norton, the couple took a trip to have a look at it – despite Charlie’s reticence: ‘I don’t want to live in a cottage, I’m 6ft 2in!’ he said initially. But the tiny 19th century property, with its awkward layout and unsympathetic 1970s ‘home improvements’, caught their imaginations, and within a short space of time they became its new owners.
