The Petersens - who met in London as students in 1989 - decided to make it their home. They nearly didn’t buy the turn of the century house near Hampstead Heath they have now lived in for 12 years. “We both crave green spaces and had looked at hundreds of properties in the area, including this one, but at the initial viewing the owners were away and it was a grey day that made the house very depressing. I thought it was awful and didn’t like anything about it,” recalls Annick. Fortunately their estate agent recommended a return visit three months later. This time the owners were home and the sun was shining. “The owner’s children were running around in the garden and we could see its potential as a family home,” says Annick.
