Synopsis
When the owners of this beautiful cottage in Muskoka, Ontario, dreamt
about designing a new family abode, they wanted to recapture the warmth
and laid-back air of their childhood homes. And with the creative input of
interior designer, Margot Bell of local company, Peaks and Rafters, that's
exactly what the home owners achieved. Built using traditional materials
such as hemlock floorboards and a grey cedar roof, the spacious 5,500 sq
ft cabin is laid out over two storeys with masses of natural light flooding in
through the numerous windows peppered throughout. And that's really the
whole point of this place: with such a breathtaking vista outside, the interior
has been deliberately decorated in a mainly neutral palette, allowing the
rugged rocks, tall white pines and beautiful lake to captivate and charm
everyone who visits.
