Synopsis
Three terraces, one with a swimming pool below, have been designed as outdoor rooms, complete with sofas and dining tables.

“The garden took longer than the house to finish,” says Jonathan, owing to the retaining walls and hard landscaping that transformed the sloping site into a multi-level outdoor space. “We breakfast on the kitchen terrace and enjoy the evening sun by the pool,” he says. The key to bringing the outside in is the flow of light and choice of materials. The main living room is tiled in porcelain, which runs into Turkish limestone on the terrace when the sleek bi-fold doors are fully opened. Rough and smooth textures, wood and stone, appear throughout giving the modern home a natural feel, appropriate to a home by the sea.
