Synopsis
Although Corina Papadopoulou's surname is Greek, she was born and brought up in Sweden and it is this heritage that she has used not only in the design and decoration of the family's Victorian home but also in her children's shop and on-line business Kidsen, which she started in 2006 after leaving her job as an MTV producer. In fact it was the plainness of the house that appealed to Papadopoulou and her husband, on-line marketing executive husband, Franco Ofili, brother of Turner Prize winning artist Chris. "The place had been stripped of all its original features and that seemed to put people off because it had been on the market for two years. But to me that didn't matter because I liked the bare walls and having no fireplaces meant that the rooms were squarer, but we did take out a number of partitions to open up the rooms" says Papadopoulou. Much of the structural design was done in conjunction with Angela Howell, who also helped design Papadopoulou's shop and its range children's furniture.
