Synopsis
There is an area of Victorian terraced houses between the two commons – Clapham north and south – which is famously described by London estate agents as “Nappy Valley” for obvious reasons. Before their first baby James was born, Belinda and James Roberts bought a 2 storey terrace house in the area because of its location although the house inside was shabby but not their taste at all. Belinda says they would have preferred to have bought “a complete tip - a derelict house in need of a complete revamp” but although they looked over about 20 houses nothing fitted that description. “So we ended up buying a house with a newly done- up- for- rental look. The kitchen had boring pine units and the walls were all painted in “safe” magnolia.”
