Synopsis
Daring, bold and stylish, Katherine North’s home is very like its owner. Having worked as a ski guide, ski model and presented skiing on Eurosport -- as well as working for a TV production company and for the photographer, Terry O’Neill, Katherine was inspired to take up interior styling after successfully restoring her former home. The property she lives in today reflects the experience she has gained from styling former homes, and a lifetime’s interest in discovering beautiful interiors.
Light hammers through the generous windows, installed when it was originally built for what Katherine was informed was a ‘gentleman bachelor’. ‘We were told he used to drive a miniature steam engine round a track in the garden,’ she says. Subsequently, the house became a hotel, then a convent belonging to Irish nuns who eventually sold to a developer approximately 18 years ago. ‘He converted it into six homes and we bought ours in 2005,’ she says.
